The World Egg Bank is Proud to Partner with GenePeeks
GenePeeks is a unique genetic screening service that analyzes the combined DNA of your prospective egg donor and sperm contributor, to identify a future child’s risk for over 1000 genetic diseases.
GenePeeks results are provided before you finalize your donor selection, so you can make a more confident donor choice.
If risk is identified, you can select another donor for screening, or use PGD (“pre-implantation genetic diagnosis”) to reduce the likelihood of your child inheriting the identified risk.
Why Perform Additional Screening?
Egg donors from The World Egg Bank are young healthy women with no significant personal or family history of genetic disease reported. Currently, the standard of care is to test donors for the recommended panel of common recessive genes designated by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). GenePeeks’ next generation approach allows GenePeeks to cover an expanded number of diseases with increased sensitivity and evaluate variants that may remain uncharacterized by other genetic tests, allowing for a focused analysis of a future child’s true risk of disease inheritance.
Benefits of GenePeeks Screening
The Process is Simple to Get Started
The World Egg Bank team will facilitate the collection of your prospective donor’s sample. Your screening will begin once GenePeeks has received samples from both the egg donor and sperm contributor.
