A More Confident Donor Choice
GenePeeks’ unique preconception screen combines DNA information from your prospective egg donor and your sperm contributor, to identify potential risk to a future child.
GenePeeks identifies risk for over 4 times the amount of diseases as other genetic screens, giving you the information you need to make a more confident donor choice.
In partnership with The World Egg Bank, GenePeeks gives you peace of mind to move forward with your prospective donor, or the information you need to avoid passing on the identified risk.
Why Perform Additional Screening with GenePeeks?
Did you know:
7.9 million babies are born every year with a serious genetic disease.
Every person has an average of 6 recessive mutations that can cause genetic diseases.
8% of genetic partners have “shared” genetic mutations that can lead to disease in their offspring.
Egg donors from The World Egg Bank are young healthy women with no significant personal or family history of genetic disease reported. Currently, the standard of care is to test donors for the recommended panel of common recessive genes designated by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG).
GenePeeks goes above and beyond the standard screening to cover an expanded number of diseases with increased sensitivity – providing the most comprehensive assessment of potential genetic risk.
How It Works
1. Your prospective egg donor and sperm contributor each provide DNA samples
2. GenePeeks digitally combines DNA information from both genetic participants
3. GenePeeks results identify a future child’s risk for 1000+ diseases
GenePeeks identifies the 5-8% of egg/sperm pairings with an increased risk of passing on disease.
The results will give most intended parents peace of mind to move forward with their prospective donor as planned.
If risk is identified, you can select another donor for screening, or use PGD (“preimplantation genetic diagnosis”) to reduce the likelihood of your child inheriting the identified risk.
GenePeeks provides certified genetic counselors to walk you through the entire process
