What It Takes to Donate Your Eggs

Receiving donor eggs is an expensive and emotional process for the recipient. For this reason, we screen all egg donors to meet certain qualifications.

You Must be Committed to the Process

Most importantly, you must be dependable and committed to following through with the protocol. The egg donation process involves planning, expense, effort, and emotional investment. If for any reason you do not meet or are unwilling to meet the requirements below, please do not continue with this process.
There may be financial charges you will be legally responsible for if you voluntarily choose to prematurely withdraw once you have been selected and begin the medical screening process.

Your Geographical Location

We accept donors from across the USA and Canada. You can choose to undergo the screening process locally in the state you reside in, or you can choose to travel for a 3- to 10-day period to where the recipient's doctor is located. You receive a higher fee to travel, you are accompanied by a representative from The World Egg Bank, and all travel and accommodation costs are paid for by The World Egg Bank.

Your Age

You must be 18 – 30 years old.

Your Mental Health

You must be willing to participate in one meeting with a psychologist.

Your Family Medical History

Even if you’re adopted, you must have a medical and genetic history for your biological mother and father.

Your Patience

You must be willing to complete a 12-page donor information package. This takes most donors around 45 minutes and may involve inquiries with other family members to determine family medical history.

Your Height and Weight Proportions

You must be height and weight proportional. This is a requirement set by all fertility medical doctors. Check out the chart below to see if you qualify. Unfortunately, if your weight exceeds the maximum allowed for your height and you still submit a request for a package, it will be rejected.

If your height is: You must weigh LESS THAN

You Must Not Smoke

You must not be a smoker and you must be in good health.

You Must Be Willing to Administer Medication by Injections

A nurse will provide you, a friend, family member or spouse instructions on how to administer medications by injections, and you must be willing to do this. You should also be willing to undergo pelvic exams and blood tests that indicate general health, hormone levels, evidence of no drug use or sexually transmitted diseases.

Birth Control Considerations

If you have a Norplant birth control device or a hormone-based IUD, you must wait until it has expired or been removed before registering with us. Note that you can still qualify even if you're on birth control pills or have undergone a tubal ligation or have a non hormone-based IUD.

You Must be Committed to the Process

This point is important enough that it's worth repeating. You must be dependable and committed to following through with the protocol. Again, there may be financial charges you will be legally responsible for reimbursing to the recipient if you voluntarily choose to prematurely withdraw once you begin the medical process.
